You'd think they'd be able to take a copy of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that had been lost - re-stickering/etc. notwithstanding. You would be wrong. Yep, I lost a book. I needed it, so had to *buy* one for many $$$, and will have one ludicrous late fee and lost book charge coming right up. Fuck.
On the plus side (?) if the other one ever shows up again, I'll have two copies, one for ~1/3 the cost of the other (library costs). Combined price about enough for 6.5 copies at MSRP, because Veloce Publishing can't be arsed to reprint, or offer an eBook that they already have 1/3 of as a sampler online. Yeah, fuck you guys too.

Our library lets you replace it with one, at no cost, if it has the same binding. If it was library bound and you replace it with a trade paper or mass market hardcover you have to pay to have it rebound which is like 20-30 bucks. About 1/3 of the books they have are library bound.
Edit: oh yeah, our late fees cap at 5.10 and you don't pay them if you have to replace the book.

This wasn't. F'ing paperback with a $59.99 MSRP. Currently retailing for $279, because why the hell not? (Hint: it involves Veloce Publishing being mouthbreathers who won't reprint.) I'd happily have turned over my new copy to the library, but no - official policy not to accept replacements, because FYNQ, apparently. So, I'll have paid $279+$40(? late fees etc.)+$at least 59.99, for one book. If it shows up again, ever, it'll be a better bargain, but still - just. too. much.
I wouldn't be so bitchy about it if my local librarian hadn't said she'd go ahead and report it lost (and call me when billed on it), only to call me a week later demanding to know if I'd found it yet. Well, since you mention it, no. "I'll give you another week" - *click*. How... generous of you. Due to this prickliness, I called the actual lender (to inquire on replacements directly), and while they were helpful and nice, "nope - policy. The board set the rule, that was before my time". Oh, and then Fraulein Local was cranky about me going over her head.
Some library board in Indiana needs to be dipped in rotten gravy and beaten about the head and neck with the ladle. The cactus enema... that's for Veloce for not republishing and painting me into this mess in the first place.

I'm assuming this isn't through IMCPL? (Central Indiana libraries)

It's Anderson's book. I'm not sure how independent they are.

Yeah, they're a separate entity. I lost a book from Central Library and you can just return a new copy + $10 fee. Sorry about your troubles. My recommendation would be to make your own ebook if you can get access to a nice scanner.

I did scan this in case I lose it again. Not with a good scanner, but serviceable pages. Also makes it possible for me to print out, say, the porting cross-section page to measure off of while doing the actual work (yep, they have a porting cross-section for all major head variants. They have everything).
The hell of it is, I think Central Indy has a copy of the book as well. I was like "wut" when it turned out more than one library in Indiana - and only Indiana - had the book. Anderson volunteered theirs to WorldCat, though.
